By 2016 Arkalyk – Shubarkol rail way will carry ten pairs of freight trains per day, which in weight equivalent will be 51 thousand tons. Goal of this project put into operation on August 22 within the frameworks of teleconference with participation of the President of the RoK Nursultan Nazarbayev is to provide Zhezkazgan district of Karaganda region with transport infrastructure. Because Zhezkazgan district is developing rapidly, including at the expense of growing coal mining on Shubarkol opencast coal mine.

The present day Kazakhstan actively implements its transport potential in its aspiration to become business and logistic hub of Eurasia. Formation of special economic zone “Khorgos-East Gates” is the key element on the way to the goal set.

Two railway tracks Zhezkazgan – Beineu, Arkalyk – Shubarkol with total length of 1200 kilometers covering Aktobe and Mangystau regions were put into operation.

Zhezkazgan – Beineu railway mainline is comparable with Baikal-Amur Mainline according to construction extent and its significance for Kazakhstan economy. Just like BAM breathed life into hard-to-access places at the proper times crying out vicinities with locomotive whistles, the new mainline of our republic also made changes into the life of the central region.
